Sound Healing

Each organ and system in our body has its own resonant frequency which interacts with each other and as a whole. Stress, trauma, sickness & life experiences impact that frequency, and if left undealt with, can lead to varying health issues.

Adopting techniques used by ancient cultures and proven by modern science, Sound Healing uses specialist instruments played in therapeutic ways to trigger and support the body’s own healing processes. This support and healing can be physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and relational.

There is an extensive range of benefits of sound healing including deep relaxation, improved sleep, immune support, pain management and reducing inflammation. It can assist with reducing the effects of PTSD, supporting addiction recovery, stress management and improving reproductive health and fertility. Sound Healing can be used by people of all ages and also plays a complementary role with other medical and natural therapies and rehabilitation.

During a sound healing session relaxation and stillness are experienced. The client participates by focusing on the chosen healing intention while the sounds are created. Depending on the type of treatment required, the practitioner may use the instruments over and around the body, or at times may place different instruments gently on areas of the body to allow the vibrational frequencies of the instruments to penetrate the body in a greater way.

Mindful awareness of sound creates a state of relaxation and peace and deals effectively with most underlying causes of pain, illness and disease.

Emily Mattschoss

Sound Health by Design was established by Emily Mattschoss after completing a Practitioner Diploma in Integral Sound Healing and Certificate in Group Sound Baths.

She has played musical instruments both professionally and personally for more than 2 decades, and through her own health journey, she discovered the powerful benefits of sound healing.

With hormones out of balance leading to depression, significant weight gain and adrenal fatigue, Emily was determined to find a way to regain control of her health and wellbeing. She already knew the benefits and joy that music could provide, but when she experienced the healing power of sound therapy for herself, she was keen to share it with others.

She is now a certified member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists and an accomplished practitioner of the Sound Healing Academy.

Emily continues to be amazed by the positive health and wellbeing outcomes of healing sound frequencies, and she sees it as a priviledge to be part of her clients’ healing journey.

I really didn’t know what to expect from my sessions but was pleasantly surprised. Emily is a caring and intuitive healer and I gained a lot from my sessions. It did reduce my Rheumatoid Arthritis pain but I also loved the relaxation and the release of blocked energy which I didn’t know I held. I felt an enormous sense of calm and peace after each session. This is a subtle but powerful healing modality.


Emily creates a comfortable sacred space for exploration and healing. She has helped me on my self-healing journey and through the healing vibrations I have been able to gain a deeper understanding of myself and my energy flow. Each session was tailored differently and produced its own physical and emotional responses, but a common thread through each session was lightening of spirit and a reconnection to self. I feel blessed to have these sessions.


I found the Baby and Me Sound Bath session really relaxing. I enjoyed closing my eyes and just being in the moment. Sharing the experience with my daughter was beautiful. It was a great opportunity to have some bonding time with my daughter. Before the Baby & Me Sound Bath sessions I hadn’t had a day nap in months as I couldn’t switch off my brain. Since the sessions I’ve been having day naps and I’ve been sleeping better and so has my daughter. My daughter’s bowels movements have also improved. I’ve learnt tips to relax and lower my stress levels. If I do wake in the night, I use the recommendations Emily gave me and it usually works. I highly recommend giving Sound Healing a go!
